Spectrum Productions, Inc. is an award-winning video production firm creating nationally broadcast television shows and commercials. While looking for a new facility, they were drawn to the unusual character and potential of this 1920’s vintage office and warehouse building in downtown Tampa’s Channel District. For their staff of twenty-one writers, animators, editors and technicians, they needed an unconventional space; one that would help stimulate the creative process. The result is light- and color-filled spaces of unusual and interesting geometries, textures, and materials. The existing concrete column and slab structure with its hollow clay tile masonry infill walls was exposed and left unfinished. Only the shell was saved. All of the services and major building components are new. The 8,200-square foot facility includes state-of-the-art video and audio edit suites, administrative suite, offices, film studio, conference room and living room-like collaborative work area.
